What the cells mean

Every named state prints one way. This page gives the words, what they mean, what they do not mean, and one real record for each.

Free

A permanent free plan whose documented habit cap covers the chosen count (five by default), or an unlimited cap, or a product with no paid tier at all. Where a cap is documented it prints in brackets (“Free (6 habits)”). It does not mean every requirement of the scenario was observed working.

Example: AnyHabit: App Blocker & Focus

Free up to N habits

A permanent free plan with a documented cap below the chosen count (at “All”, any documented number). It is not counted as free for that count; the free-only control excludes it unless “include free plans below N habits” is on, and the paid cell beside it shows the minimum paid plan.

Example: Do Habits: Get It Done

Free, cap not stated

The free class is permanent and the product has a paid tier, but the pages read state no habit cap. It is not counted as free at any count; the cap is not zero and not unlimited, it is unknown.

Example: Carb Manager

Free, capped; cap not established

The free class is restricted but the cap is not stated as a number on the pages read.

Example: Beeminder

Free, with conditions

A zero base subscription with conditions the record names (Beeminder's pledge charges). Not counted as free for the benchmark.

Example: none today

Free · up to N clients / Free · unlimited clients

Professional: a permanent free plan with the habit workflow, with the client cap the vendor printed. Zero clients is never free by itself.

Example: Assistant Coach

Trial only

The only no-charge access is a trial. A trial length is never a price.

Example: Habits Garden

No free plan

The vendor publishes no free tier for the habit workflow (a free account that excludes it counts as no free plan).

Example: Everfit

Not established

The pages read do not settle the question. Always followed by the record's own reason. It is not zero and not a failure.

Example: AIHabitPro: AI Habit Tracker (Sebastian Ottow)

None documented

Personal: no paid tier exists on the official pages read (open-source or entirely free software).

Example: Grove — Self-coaching

Not printed on that basis

Personal, with the paid-basis control set: the product prints no offer on that billing basis.

Example: appears only with the control set

Price not established

Professional: no documented price for the selection; the reason follows. With annual billing on and a monthly amount established, the reason is “annual invoice not printed”.

Example: CoachMePlus

currency unconfirmed

The vendor printed an amount with a bare “$” and no currency code anywhere on the page or in its markup. The amount is shown as printed and never called USD; it is excluded from sorting by price.

Example: Atomic Habits - Habit Tracker (ICarta)

≈ USD N, est. at the [date] rate

The conversion printed under a single coded amount in EUR, GBP or CAD, at the dated Bank of Canada rate named on the method page. For reading only; never a sort key.

Example: Coachway

estimated in USD at the [date] rate

A figure over a set, on the cover and the figures page, never in a price cell: the median across the amounts that print a currency code, converted at the dated rate, with its count and range; beneath it, smaller, the same figure if every bare dollar sign were a US dollar, never shown alone. It describes the set and ranks nothing.

Example: the figures page

the middle amount(s) among the N … printed in USD

An unconverted figure inside one currency: the middle amount as printed for an odd count, the two middle amounts for an even count, with the count and the range. The convention is on the method page.

Example: the figures page

Quote required

The vendor sells by sales call, or the count is above a ladder the vendor says to ask about. The second line gives the record's reason.

Example: Exercise.com

Not published above N clients / Quote required above N clients

The count is above the vendor's printed ladder and no unlimited plan exists; nothing is extrapolated.

Example: appears only above a ladder

Unlimited not established

Shown only with “Unlimited plan required” on: the vendor prints no explicitly unlimited plan with the habit workflow.

Example: appears only with the control on

USD 10 × N active clients

A per-client rate with no base: the published rate times the count. At zero clients the cell prints 0 and “per-client rate, not a free plan”.

Example: Apotheo

a known option, not a verified cheapest plan

The ladder is incomplete (a capacity is listed without a price, or a price is behind a selector), so the amount shown is a known option, not the verified minimum.

Example: Quenza

official pages conflict

Two official pages print different amounts for the same plan and no dated notice settles it; both endpoints show.

Example: none today

store rows conflict

An app-store listing prints several amounts for the same period; the cell shows the range and picks no winner.

Example: Atomin - Habit Tracker

store listing

The amount comes from an app-store page read for one storefront on the date shown; it is not a checkout.

Example: AIHabitPro: AI Habit Tracker (Sebastian Ottow)

Documented / Conditional / Not established (Workflow)

Whether the vendor's pages show the habit workflow: documented; documented with a condition the record names (a blog post only, a nutrition-only scope, an entitlement per plan); or not established. Conditional rows keep their prices and sort after documented rows.

Example: ABC Trainerize

Not assessed / Not established / Conditional / Documented support / Not suitable for this use (lay reading)

The project's reading of the vendor's statements for one jurisdiction, as the method defines the words. Not a grade; “Not assessed” means the assessment was not done.

Example: the regulated-use page

Not recorded

A field the research does not collect for that record (platform).

Example: AIHabitPro: AI Habit Tracker (Sebastian Ottow)
